This is a blog about work-related topics that somehow have to do with my code hosted on GitHub, or with projects in the realm of scientific programming.
I work at the Center for Climate Systems Modeling at ETH Zurich. I am leading the Center’s activities related to climate data acquisition, management, analysis and dissemination, advise scientific and institutional users of climate data and conduct training workshops in scientific programming.
Short bio of Harald von Waldow
From my Master’s studies in
hydrology at the University of Waterloo through my PhD thesis (2010)
in the Safety and Environmental Technology Group at ETH Zurich, I
always worked at the intersection between environmental transport
phenomena, computational science and applications. After researching
extreme weather events as a PostDoc in the Climate Impact Research
Group of the University of Bern, I joined C2SM in 2013 to lead the
Climate Data Analysis Work Group. I am particularly interested in
advanced statistical methods applied to climate science, teaching
scientific programming, and in improving research by leveraging good
coding practices and intelligent handling of research data. I program
mostly in Python and R these days.
